The Business of Building Trust - How Alex Did It.

A Naples luxury real estate leader proves that professional influence carries a deeper responsibility to serve.

Ask Alexander Deron Torcomian about his proudest accomplishment, and he will not mention a record-breaking sale or a milestone in annual volume. He will point instead to something that happens far from any closing table: Dollars raised for orphaned Armenian children who will never know his name.

That instinct, to measure success by significance rather than by commissions, defines everything about Alex. He has built a formidable career in one of the country's most competitive luxury markets. Yet he insists the more compelling story is not that he sells luxury real estate. It is what he has been able to build because of the platform real estate has given him.

A Legal Mind in a Luxury Market

Alexander serves as a Luxury Properties Specialist and Co-Principal of the Gregory Sofranko Group, a twelve-agent luxury sales team with William Raveis Real Estate. Based in Southwest Florida, the group represents buyers, sellers, investors and developers throughout the Naples market and produces approximately $90 million in annual sales volume.

A proud graduate of Ave Maria School of Law, Alexander brings a contract-focused perspective to an industry where sophisticated negotiations and high-value assets routinely intersect. His legal training shaped how he thinks about every transaction.

"Law school teaches you to analyze problems from multiple angles, anticipate consequences, negotiate through disagreement and remain composed when circumstances become complicated," he explains. In luxury real estate, where deals involve substantial assets and strong personalities, that problem-solving mentality has become one of his greatest advantages.

He has also built his brand around modern marketing, particularly with his patented “Host Tour Video” through his social media. That approach has helped him develop a substantial digital audience while presenting Naples real estate and lifestyle to consumers both locally and nationally. He jokingly says, “I’m the most followed Real Estate Agent in SWFL!”

The Work That Matters Most

For Alexander, the accomplishment he is proudest of exists outside of any negotiation. He serves as President of the Naples Chapter of the Society for Orphaned Armenian Relief, known as SOAR, an international humanitarian organization established in 2005 to assist orphaned and vulnerable Armenian children and families.

SOAR now reports roughly 150 chapters worldwide, making it a truly global philanthropic network. Under Alexander's leadership, the Naples chapter has distinguished itself as SOAR's highest-grossing chapter, mobilizing Southwest Florida's Armenian community, business leaders and donors to raise substantial funding for humanitarian initiatives in Armenia and throughout the diaspora.

Alexander is quick to share the credit. "That achievement says as much about the generosity of the Naples community as it does about our leadership," he says. Together, the chapter has brought philanthropists, entrepreneurs and members of the Armenian community around a mission that is deeply personal to many of them.

Turning a Platform Into Purpose

Alexander does not view real estate and philanthropy as separate pursuits. His business career has given him a platform, relationships and community reach that can be leveraged for something larger than professional success alone.

"Real estate gave me a platform," he says. "My responsibility is to make sure that platform serves something larger than myself." That belief runs through everything he does. He rejects the idea that generosity should wait until a career is complete.

"I do not believe philanthropy begins when you have achieved everything you want professionally," Alexander explains. "Service should grow alongside success, not wait until after it."

His guiding conviction is simple and memorable: "Success is valuable, but significance is what you do with it." The transactions and accolades are gratifying, he says, but raising meaningful dollars for children who genuinely need them provides an entirely different measure of accomplishment.

Faith at the Center

Alexander credits his Christian faith with shaping how he treats every person he encounters. His relationship with Christ reminds him that no one's value is determined by wealth, title, profession or the size of the home they are buying or selling.

"My faith teaches me that the person sitting across from me is never beneath me and never above me," he says. "We simply have different roles at that particular table." He tries to approach every client, colleague and stranger with dignity, patience and respect.

That principle carries into his professional standards as well. Whether leading his team, representing a client or working through SOAR, he operates according to a single idea: use whatever ability, influence and opportunity you have been given to leave something better than you found it.

A Leader Who Invests in People

Ask Alexander about leadership, and his philosophy is refreshingly people-first. He believes strongly in developing individuals rather than treating them as disposable. One quote from attorney John Morgan has stayed with him: "It's easier to retain & train than it is to fire & rehire."

That philosophy, he notes, applies far beyond employment. Whether he is guiding the agents on his team, navigating a difficult transaction or building a philanthropic organization, he believes good leadership requires patience, accountability and a genuine investment in people.

This approach gives clients a distinct advantage. When one works with Alexander, one gains a professional who combines the analytical rigor of a legal education, the marketing savvy of a modern brand-builder and the steady composure of someone who values the relationship above the transaction. In a market defined by high stakes and complex contracts, that combination is rare.

Building Two Platforms at Once

Alexander's ambition is not limited to building a successful real estate career. His stated goal is to grow both platforms simultaneously: developing an exceptional real estate organization while expanding the philanthropic reach of SOAR Naples.

That intersection of business, community leadership, Armenian heritage and philanthropy is ultimately what distinguishes his story. He wants readers to understand that influence within a local business community carries an accompanying opportunity to serve it. Success, in his view, creates leverage, and leverage can be used for far more than business.

The measure of his work, then, is twofold. There are the families who find their place in the Naples luxury market with his guidance. And there are the children in Armenia whose lives are quietly improved by the generosity he helps mobilize thousands of miles away.
