Lankan Professionals Network Opens Rooms That Matter

A sold-out CFO Roundtable signals how LPN is turning visibility into meaningful professional access.

The room in Minnesota filled before the conversation began. Executives, entrepreneurs, students, and emerging leaders arrived not for a typical networking night, but for something more difficult to create: proximity to people whose careers had crossed borders, industries, setbacks, and breakthroughs. For the Lankan Professionals Network, that sold-out evening became more than a second-quarter highlight. It became proof that an idea born less than a year ago could become a national platform where Sri Lankan professional excellence is seen, heard, and shared widely.

Why Lankan Professionals Network Began

The Lankan Professionals Network, known as LPN, was created around a simple but ambitious mission: Connect. Empower. Elevate. As a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the organization showcases the achievements, leadership, and contributions of Sri Lankan professionals across the nation, while opening its programs to people from every background. That distinction matters. LPN is rooted in Sri Lankan excellence, yet it is not built as a closed circle. It invites broader participation, where professionals and students can learn from distinguished leaders, exchange ideas, and build relationships that would otherwise be hard to access.

In less than a year, the organization has built early momentum that many young nonprofits would envy. More than 200 participants have engaged with LPN programs. Participants across more than 10 states have been reached. Five high-impact events have represented five different organizations, with collaborations across more than three partner entities. Yet the deeper story is not about activity alone. It is about curation, credibility, and a clear answer to a real need. Many professionals want more than a business card exchange. They want context, mentorship, and a meaningful reason to gather.

That is where LPN has carved its lane. Through executive panels, hands-on workshops, behind-the-scenes workplace tours, PowerTalks, and now the Global Roundtable Series, the organization gives accomplished Sri Lankan professionals a stage while giving attendees access to leadership lessons that feel practical and personal. Its value is measured by the quality of the room itself: the speakers, the questions, the relationships, and the ideas that continue after the program ends.

How Lankan Professionals Network Creates Access

The launch of the Global Roundtable Series marked a turning point for the Lankan Professionals Network. Designed as an intimate leadership forum, the series moves beyond traditional keynote events. Participants do not simply sit at a distance and listen to polished success stories. They engage directly with leaders, ask questions, hear about difficult decisions, and explore the lessons that shape leadership under pressure. 

The model is built for access, not just attendance.

The inaugural CFO Roundtable featured two distinguished finance executives: Dushani Dye, Chief Financial Officer for the City of Minneapolis, and Pasan Perera, Chief Financial Officer of Knichel Logistics. The discussion was moderated by Priyanga Chandrakumara, Treasurer of the LPN Board of Directors and Finance Director at United Health. Together, they led a candid conversation across public- and private-sector leadership, financial stewardship, strategic decision-making, talent development, and leading through complexity.

Dye brought the perspective of a public-sector executive overseeing more than $2 billion in financial operations and a team of approximately 300 professionals. As a member of the City of Minneapolis executive leadership team, she helps shape long-term financial strategy and organizational priorities. Her department has earned national recognition for excellence in budgeting and financial reporting, and she was named CFO of the Year in Government by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. Perera brought a different but equally compelling path, with nearly two decades of experience spanning finance, analytics, business intelligence, and corporate strategy. His journey from Sri Lanka’s insurance industry to executive leadership in the United States offered a living case study in adaptability, resilience, and organizational growth.

For attendees, the value came from hearing not only what these leaders achieved, but how they thought. The discussion explored building high-performing teams, balancing vision with execution, navigating uncertainty, and learning from career transitions. The audience responded with an active Q&A, extending the conversation beyond prepared remarks. That engagement helped make the CFO Roundtable LPN’s most successful event of the second quarter and a strong launch for the Global Roundtable Series.
